I believe that self-awareness is a huge part of leadership. This aspect of emotional intelligence defines how you interact with other people. For instance, you should be capable of easily telling when someone is happy, genuinely excited, sad, displeased and so forth. Having the ability to correctly read other people’s emotions helps you respond in a more effective way. For instance, a nurse might be experiencing fatigue after working overtime for several days. Due to fatigue, the nurse may fail to complete some of the assignments allocated or do them poorly. As a good leader with emotional awareness, you should be able to talk to the nurse about the problem and not reprimand them. That way, you can prevent a similar problem from happening in future.
