The healthcare system is an ever-changing environment therefore strategic planning has to be implemented all the time. “
Strategic planning
is the process in which organizational leaders purposefully look ahead into the future, outline goals for the organization, and develop a process to reach those goals” (Grand Canyon University, 2018). The goal influencing the need for strategic planning is constantly changing. Every few decades the goals change. The strategic plan that is currently underway includes the trend of patients being satisfied with the services and care they received (Grand Canyon University, 2018). Looking into the future and recognizing what needs to be achieve in the years to come is imperative for nurses and managers as the healthcare system continues to change. Leaders and managers can project the needs for the future health care system and recognize changes needed for “budgeting, staff level expertise, levels of care provided, and time” (Grand Canyon University, 2018). Nurse leaders and managers play a key role in planning for the future by “enhance efficiency and effectiveness in nursing care delivery and management proficiency as part of a management development process” (Gunawan, Aungsuroch, Nazliansyah, & Sukarna, 2018).
