An article critique involves the identification, evaluation, critique, and response to an author’s study, both positive and negative. An article critique is an active process that involves careful consideration of the article’s content, rather than providing a simple summary. Critiquing research allows you to develop an understanding of the current state of knowledge, which is essential to the development of an understanding of the “big picture” of a discipline as a whole.
Research a health promotion/behavior change intervention for a population in one of the following: school, community, worksite, or health setting. Select a peer-reviewed journal article related to the health promotion/behavior change intervention you chose. The article must have been published within the last 2 years. Articles from news outlets, magazines, or blogs are not appropriate for this assignment. Critique the article by responding to the questions in the “Article Critique Worksheet.” Use complete sentences for questions 2-10.
